Puerto Morelos is the best kept secret of the Riviera Maya and it's beach is an even bigger 'best kept secret'. On a typical windy day where the waves would be pounding in and eating away at the sand, this almost flat expanse of beach remains untouched. If you look out in the distance you can see the breakers on the reef - which serve to keep the waters calm for most of the time. Well cared for, long and expansive, this beach really second to none - with very few people enjoying it. Puerto Morelos is not noted for being overly friendly to developers and has grown at a very slow rate compared to Playa del Carmen - which is just fine. Most of the buildings along the beach are low in height as well as density - which again is just fine. And it's just a short walk from the road. Caught a full moon here one night - just incredible. Very friendly beach in a very friendly town. Location @ googlemap of Quintana Roo @ www.yolotraveller.com
